Are Elephants really afraid of mice?
Here's what I found out- the truth behind the famous belief
According to a local fable, a mouse once jumped up inside an elephant’s trunk and drove him crazy and that's why elephants are afraid of mice…
But the truth is—Elephants aren’t afraid of mice because they might crawl into their trunks—it's just a myth. They’re afraid of anything moving around their feet, regardless of its size.
Elephants, like many mammals, get startled by small animals scurrying by in a hurry. Humans are also frightened if a mouse runs right by them.
Even though you and I know they’re not going to hurt us, we’re startled by them, right? Or maybe you're not but I am… a lot :D
Think about how household things scare pets, or how a baby will cry at a balloon popping. Here’s some food for thought: no matter how small we think we are, we can scare things bigger than us. I think you understand what I mean — dreaming big.
Here are other myths that aren’t true.
Camels store water in their humps? Nope.
Goldfish forget everything in three seconds? Not true
Ants will die if you draw a circle around them with chalk? They might get confused for a while, but they’ll still cross it. Hmmm, Myths…
So, I thought I’d find out if elephants are really afraid of mice, or if it’s just a myth, and it turns out it is.
And sometimes, we go through life carrying negative labels — labels others gave us, or that we’ve placed on ourselves…. A negative identity will limit your happiness.
Question those things today, question those lies and believe the truth.
Lauren Daigle’s song, You Say, has touched lots of lives. It’s basically about forgetting the negative things we believe about ourselves, and embracing what God says — or who you truly are.
The truth is:
You can dream big.
You are beautiful.
You are enough.
You are not the worst person on earth.
You are here.
You are present.
And that’s okay.
Thank you for sharing this moment with me.
Shalom, dear one.
