I'm reading one of the most depressing books in Scripture.

Thursday Peace treat

"As long as you live, everything you do brings nothing but worry and heartache. Even at night your mind can't rest. It is all useless." (2:23)

Happy New Month. I pray for a peaceful and calm May.

I'm currently reading Ecclesiastes as part of my Bible reading, and I can say it is one of the most depressing books in Scripture.

It shows the gloomy side of life-the endless cycle of the sun rising and setting, everyone dying eventually, and even accomplishments and pleasure are likened to chasing the wind.

But it's also filled with a lot of wisdom, to be honest. The background message is to utilize the short time we have been given, live wisely, and "always look happy and cheerful" (9:8).

Here's one I love: "Work hard at whatever you do, because there will be no action, no thought, no knowledge, no wisdom in the world of the dead- and that is where you are going." (9:10)

Truth is, we all die eventually, so let's live our best lives and live happily. That's what truly matters.
